It was supposed to be a fun weekend, a celebration of a marriage and growing family. Alan Lindley couldn't have been happier... until his wife, Sara, disappeared. Asked by a mutual friend to help look for her, Logan Harper is sure he'd discover a wife who simply wants out of the marriage. What he finds instead is a woman who didn't exist, a diabolical plan, and people who would do anything to keep it a secret, including taking the life of the person most important to him. What would you do for those precious to you?
Every Precious Thing A Logan Harper Thriller Book 2 (Audible Audio Edition) Brett Battles Jeff Woodman Audible Studios Books
The first 3/4 of this book is awesome. 5 stars plus!! Then the great let down occurs. If you have not read the book do not read this review because it is the solution or "who done it and why" that was so disappointing. As you can see, the premise is the wife disappears and leaves the her child with her new husband. Great start - Logan and his father and the other main characters, in fact, all the characters are believable and compelling. It is the ending that is so unbelievable. I'm going to try to be as discreet as possible and not give away too much so - the wife has found out a secret about an organization that is breeding children for replacement parts or donors for very rich people. Here's where it falls apart - let me count the ways: 1 - these rich people wait 18 years for these children to be old enough to provide these donations of body parts, blood, whatever - really??? 2. So the wife found out - how would she prove it - would she endanger her own child by making it public - probably not!! 3. Instead of chasing the wife all over the country to kill her and take the child - why not just track her for the next 18 years and grab the kid then? You can't use them until then anyway - just saying. I was reading avidly until that point and then it was like balloon deflating. I did finish the book but it just was quite the let down.Product details

Every Precious Thing A Logan Harper Thriller Book 2 (Audible Audio Edition) Brett Battles Jeff Woodman Audible Studios Books Reviews
This is the second book in the Logan Harper series. I did not read the first book, but I did not feel like I was missing anything by reading this one first. This story line stands all on its own without needing prior knowledge of the characters.
The story is about a woman who goes missing under very bizarre circumstances. Everything that happens indicates that she orchestrated her own disappearance, but why is the big question. Enter Logan Harper; his father, Harp; Barney; Dev; and Pep--an unlikely band of heroes.
The story unravels bit by bit and moves along at a good pace. It keeps the reader engaged and eager to find out why Sara left. As each new piece of the puzzle is revealed, a scam so twisted unfolds which leaves you feeling horrified and yet convinced that it could absolutely happen.
From the endearing characters to the well-developed plot line, this novel is a great read. Anyone who enjoys the "amateur detective" type novels will enjoy this series. Logan Harper will certainly have a place in my book list.
Every Precious Thing is the second Logan Harper thriller from Battles. Logan is former military and former defense contractor who was blamed for the death of a colleague and dismissed from Forbes International. He is currently a mechanic in his father's garage and trying to get over his broken marriage.
A family friend asks him for help finding a young wife and mother. Sara Lindley was enjoying a weekend away with her husband when she pulls a disappearing act, leaving behind her three-year-old daughter. Her husband returns home to find every trace of her gone - the house has been cleaned of every trace she was ever there. A background check reveals Sara Lindley never existed.
With little to go on, Logan Harper goes to an area that Sara had called from her cellphone - when he starts asking questions he finds himself not the only one looking for the young wife and mother.
The characters - Logan, his father Harp and his father's friends are all richly drawn and interesting in their own right. The back story here is Logan's uncle, his father's brother who disappeared during the war. A thread of this story weaves effortlessly throughout the book.
Battles is a master storyteller and Every Precious Thing does not disappoint. Highly recommend.
Something seemed very wrong. A mother doesn't just walk away and leave her child in the care of a man she's been married to only a year...at least, not a mother like Sara. Yet, Sara's note asks Alan to believe he should not look for her and that things are better this way. Alan is desperate to know why. Enter Logan Harper ex-military and ex-covert agent turned garage mechanic. Harper is as good at solving unusual problems as he is bad at turning down a friend in need, or this case, a friend of a friend in need.
Harper reluctantly agrees to find and talk to Sara. Although he originally suspects Sara ran away, the questions grow deeper at every turn. Then, when a sinister force seems to be after Sara as well, Harper commits to figuring out the mystery. In EVERY PRECIOUS THING, author Brett Battles has given his readers a sequel to the very successful Little Girl Gone (A Logan Harper Thriller).
EVERY PRECIOUS THING is a great continuation, and also stands on its own. The action is fast-paced. The characters are believable. The suspense builds to just the right point, until suddenly everything makes sense. For plot, characters, action, suspense, fast pace, intrigue and believability, I rate EVERY PRECIOUS THING with five stars, and I look forward to reading more books in this series. The Logan Harper character is strong enough and deep enough for many future episodes.
Every Precious Thing (A Logan Harper Thriller)
As I have stated in many of my book reviews, I love a book that grabs me, shakes me, and won't let go until the end Brett Battles seems to never disappoint my senses! I HAD to read this book in under 24 hrs., and everything I "preconceived" in the beginning as to how I thought the plot would unfold, failed miserably - YAY! One of Brett Battles' biggest strengths as a writer is his wisdom and presentation of deep family/friend values, woven with love and respect, that pulls you right in to the characters' lives. You find yourself in their company fighting against the evil trying to destroy them, even when you haven't quite figured out how the puzzle pieces of their dilemma even begin to fit together. This masterful author keeps you guessing until the very end, and I was absolutely addicted to this story until the last page. Love and friendships, can form a superhero bond in even the most average of lives, when facing hideous evil. This book is a triumph of those "heroes". 5 Stars! Don't miss this book!
